Dear Michael,

What issues should be addressed when dating a co-worker. I have met this great guy and we seem to hit it off. I am attracted to him but not sure what would happen if we started dating. Some of my friends have told me to forget about it. Got any ideas.

Ready for love

Dear Ready,

Dating in the work place has a lot of rules attached to it and some taboos. The very first thing to do is check out what the company policy is on dating. This will set the ground rules on how to proceed. Once you have the go ahead on dating here are some of my ground rules you may want to consider before you start dating.

As with everything else there is a structure to most things in life. Such as, you don’t put the cart before the horse or have you ever tried to push a chain? Some things just don’t work.

Lets define co-worker as in dating. Here is what I would think would be the proper order. 1. They work for the same company but in a different building. 2. They work in the company but in a different department. 3. They work on a different floor. I would not want to date someone who works in the same room or at the next desk. I would never consider dating someone who has a higher position in the company. It gets too messy when things do not work out. Use caution.

Michael
